Description:

The National Shared Services Office in Ireland, is a statutory Government office established under the National Shared Services Office Act 2017. The National Shared Services Office (NSSO) was originally set up in 2014 on an administrative basis within the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER). In 2015, the Government approved the establishment of the NSSO on a statutory basis and the legislation was enacted on 1 January 2018, when the NSSO became a separate civil service office. The NSSO is leading on Shared Services strategy and the implementation of Shared Services in the Irish Civil Service, under the aegis of the DPER. The NSSO is directly responsible for delivering business Shared Services within the civil service and, as part of its wider leadership role, it also provides expert guidance and support to other public service sectors in progressing their Shared Services commitments.
